Curbside Pickup

Need a book or other library items during our closing?
McKinley Memorial Library is happy to provide materials pickup while keeping both your safety and our safety in mind. All staff have received training and the personal protective equipment necessary to keep themselves, other staff, and the public safe. All employees wear face coverings according to protocols established by the State of Ohio. The library asks that library patrons observe social distancing.

  • Place your holds online or by calling us at  330-652-1704, ext. 3 for Adult Materials & ext. 4 for Youth Materials. We are happy to select materials for you based on your interests!
  • We’ll call you to schedule a time for pickup. Please wait for us to call you to be sure that your items are ready.
  • Enter the Library Curbside Pickup area from the side drive off of Park Ave. (front of the Post Office). Park in one of the 4 Curbside Pickup spaces, follow the directions on the sign to text or call us, and we’ll bring your items out to you!
  • Pop your trunk so that our staff can observe social distancing. Staff will place your bag of library materials in your trunk. If you cannot pop your trunk, please open a window for an unoccupied seat in your vehicle so that staff can maintain social distancing requirements.
  • Please do not return items at Curbside Pickup. All library materials need to be returned using the drive-up return boxes on N. Arlington Ave.
  • We will not provide any other library services via curbside pickup, such as faxing, copying, or reference services.
  • Please email or call us if you need a library card or if there is a problem with your card.

We are scheduling Curbside Pickups for the following times:
Monday - Thursday

10 - 11 AM for Vulnerable Patrons
11 AM - 7 PM

Friday & Saturday
10 - 11 AM for Vulnerable Patrons
11 AM - 4 PM


Can I pick up materials if I am not in a vehicle?
Yes, when you are called by the library to schedule a pick up time, please let us know that you will be walking and we will make arrangements.

Can I return my items?
Yes, Book and AV return boxes were reopened on Wednesday, May 20. All returns must be returned in the boxes so that they can be properly handled. Returns are not accepted at Curbside Pickup.

  • As recommended by the Ohio Library Council, all returned materials will be quarantined for 4 days before being checked in, sanitized, and put away.
  • If the return boxes are full, please do not leave your items. Any items left outside of the return boxes or outside the library building may get damaged.
  • All returned materials during the pandemic will not accrue fines, even if returned late.

Can I put things on hold?
You can place items owned by the McKinley Memorial Library on hold. Unfortunately, we are unable to request items from other CLEVNET locations at this time.We are waiting for the Statewide Library Delivery system to reopen.

Can I use Curbside Pickup if I don't have a library card?
Yes! Please call us at 330-652-1704 ext. 1 to sign up for a library card over the phone. Once you receive your card in the mail, call us to activate it and then you will be able to use the Curbside Pickup service.

Can I use Curbside Pickup with my virtual/digital library card?
If you have a virtual/digital card and would now like to check out physical materials, please call us at 330-652-1704 ext. 1 to request a physical library card. Once you receive your card in the mail, call us to activate it and then you will be able to use the Curbside Pickup service.

Can I pay my fines at Curbside Pickup?
We will not be accepting fine payments at Curbside Pickup. Fines can be paid through your online account at

Can I use Curbside Pickup if my library card is expired?
Yes! Please call us at 330-652-1704 ext. 1 to renew your library card over the phone.

Can I use Curbside Pickup if my library card is blocked?
If you have billed items or billed charges, please pay them using your online account at

When will the library reopen to patrons?
The safety of our patrons and staff is our top priority. We are reopening in stages, beginning with reopening our book returns and beginning Curbside Service. As we continue to gradually reopen, we will share our plans via our website, email, social media, and the press.

Will the library have any programs this summer, like concerts and summer reading?
While all in-person library programming, including concerts and summer reading events, has been canceled through August, please check our website and Facebook page for information on our online programming. We are excited to announce an online Summer Reading Challenge that will start mid-June!

What online resources do you have to offer while the library is closed?

CDC Guidelines for Visiting a Library
Use curbside pickup or choose digital materials

  • Use online reservation and advance-order checkout systems, if possible.
  • Choose digital over print materials, if possible.
  • Request a curbside pick-up if available and use cloth face coverings during pick-up exchanges.

Clean hands when handling shared items or electronics

  • Wash your hands before and after exchanges.
  • Clean and disinfect electronics (laptops) and library materials in plastic containers (CDs, audio books) during returns and/or exchanges.
  • If allowed and available inside the library, use computer stations one person at a time. Ensure they are cleaned before use and use a disinfectant wipe on the mouse and keyboard.

Everyone has a role to play in reducing the spread of COVID-19 and staying healthy. Please stay home if you are exhibiting signs of the flu or if you are not feeling well.

To stay healthy, the CDC and other health agencies recommend:

  • Washing your hands frequently. Wash you hands for 20 seconds or more with soapy water. Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer if soap and water are not available.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Stay home and away from others if you are sick.
  • Clean and disinfect objects and surfaces frequently.
  • Cover your mouth/nose with a tissue or sleeve when coughing or sneezing.

The Ohio Department of Health maintains a website with the up-to-date information on the outbreak, current risk to the public, and links to helpful resources.

ODH has also set up a call center to address questions regarding COVID-19. It is open seven days a week from 9 a.m.-8 p.m. and can be reached at 1-833-4-ASK-ODH (1-833-427-5634).

Centers for Disease Control
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has set up a website with a range of information about the current risk to the public, symptoms to watch for, prevention, testing, and advice for schools, communities and businesses.
